Jhansi-Agra Cantt Express 11901 extended to Mathura
Indian Railways has approved extending 11901/11902 Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi-Agra Cantt Express to Mathura, with four new stops and revised timings.

Indian Railways has approved the extension of Train No. 11901/11902 Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi-Agra Cantt Express up to Mathura. The Ministry of Railways announced it in a PIB release on 25 September 2026. The Ministry describes it as an additional train service between Jhansi and Mathura, with more convenience for passengers travelling between Jhansi, Agra and Mathura.
The release does not give a start date for the extended run. Until the train shows Mathura on the booking page, plan around the current schedule and check the train page before you travel.
What changed
Until now the Express ran between Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi (VGLJ) and Agra Cantt (AGC). It will now continue beyond Agra Cantt to Mathura Junction. The total run grows from 217 km to 270 km, so the extension adds about 53 km.
- 11901 will run from Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi to Mathura, instead of ending at Agra Cantt.
- 11902 will start from Mathura for the return run to Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi.
Timings in the announcement
| Train | From | Departs | To | Arrives |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 11901 | Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi | 16:00 | Mathura | 23:00 |
| 11902 | Mathura | 05:05 | Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi | 12:50 |
Our own timetable data still lists an older schedule for this pair, with 11901 leaving Jhansi at 05:40 and 11902 leaving Agra Cantt at 06:20. Both are shown as running daily. The revised timings above are what the release gives, so treat them as the new schedule once the extension starts, and confirm on the live train pages: 11901 VGLJ AGC Express and 11902 AGC VGLJ Express.
New stops on the extended stretch
The extended portion will have commercial stoppages at four stations: Raja ki Mandi, Runkuta, Deen Dayal Dham and Baad. You can look these up on our station pages: Raja ki Mandi Jn, Runkuta and Deen Dayal Dham. For the terminus, see Mathura Jn.
A commercial stop means passengers can board and alight there, as opposed to a technical halt. Our explainer on technical halt vs commercial halt covers the difference.
Who this affects
- Jhansi and Agra travellers heading to Mathura. Once the extension starts, this train takes you through to Mathura without changing at Agra Cantt.
- People at the four commercial stops. These stations get stops on this service, with a through train to Agra and Jhansi.
- Daily passengers between Agra and Jhansi. The train now leaves Jhansi at 16:00 according to the release, which is a very different time from the schedule in our database, so check your usual timing.
What travellers should do
- Wait for the official start date. The release does not give one, so do not book a journey that depends on the extension until the train shows Mathura on the booking page.
