Indian Railways has announced 102 festival special train trips for the Dussehra and Diwali rush, running through stations of the Solapur Division. According to news reports of the announcement (ANI and other outlets, 26 September 2026), the trips cover three services: Mumbai CSMT to Chennai Beach, Mumbai CSMT to Latur, and Kolhapur to Kalaburagi. Booking opens on 27 September.

The details below come from those reports. Check the final timings, halts and train numbers on NTES or the RailOne app before you plan around them.

Seats left, before you book

Note that a 00:35 departure means the train leaves shortly after midnight, so for a Wednesday service you board in the early hours of Wednesday, effectively the night of Tuesday. Plan your trip to the station with that in mind.

Special charges apply. The announcement says these trains are booked at special charges, so fares may differ from regular trains. Look at the fare on the booking screen before you pay.

Who this helps

These trips mostly help people travelling between Mumbai and Latur (via Pune, Daund, Kurduwadi and Dharashiv), between Mumbai and Chennai (via Pune, Solapur, Kalaburagi, Guntakal and Renigunta), and along the Kolhapur, Miraj, Sangola, Pandharpur, Kurduwadi and Solapur line to Kalaburagi. If your festival trip is on a different route, other zones may announce their own specials, so keep checking.

Regular trains also serve these corridors. In our database, the 22107 CSMT Latur Express runs from Mumbai to Latur on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, the daily 22159 CSMT Chennai Express runs from Mumbai to Chennai Central, and the 22155 KLBG KOP SUP Express runs daily from Kalaburagi to Kolhapur. Compare them with the specials; when the regular trains are waitlisted, a special can be the easier seat.

What to do before booking opens

  1. Note the date: booking opens on 27 September, at all computerised reservation centres, on the IRCTC website and in the RailOne app.
  2. Read our guide on how to book holiday special trains, including how to search for them.
  3. Make sure your IRCTC account is Aadhaar-authenticated. On the day booking opens for a journey, only authenticated users can book general reserved tickets online from 08:00 to midnight.
  4. Save the confirmation and check the final chart, which is prepared at least 10 hours before departure. For a 00:35 train, that chart is prepared earlier the previous day.

Tip: use the trip planner to see alternative boarding stations and two-train connections if the special is full. Our note on duplicate specials explains why the same route can show several trains during festivals.
