Indian Railways has approved a new tri-weekly Amrit Bharat Express between Bhuj in Gujarat and Barauni in Bihar. The Ministry of Railways release on PIB, dated 25 September 2026, says the service will cover 2,532 km and connect destinations across Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. It adds another rail option between the western and eastern parts of the country.
The PIB release does not give a first-run date. Nothing here is bookable until the train appears on IRCTC.
Train numbers, days and timings
| Train | Route | Runs on | Departs | Arrives |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 19427 | Bhuj to Barauni | Mon, Wed, Sat | 17:30 | 04:05 |
| 19428 | Barauni to Bhuj | Tue, Thu, Sat | 23:55 | 13:15 |
The release gives clock times only, not the journey time or the day of arrival. Over 2,532 km the arrival will not be on the day of departure, so check the full timetable once it is published. Neither 19427 nor 19428 is in our database yet, so we have no live page for them; once they enter the timetable, they will appear in the trip planner.
The route
The release names commercial stoppages at Samakhiali, Ahmedabad, Ratlam, Kota, Sawai Madhopur, Gangapur City, Bharatpur, Mathura, Hathras, Bareilly, Izzatnagar, Pilibhit, Lakhimpur, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Siwan, Chhapra, Hajipur, Muzaffarpur and Samastipur, among others. That is 20 named stops across four states, and the release says there are others. Wait for the full stoppage list before you plan around a smaller station.
Stations you can already check on our site: Bhuj, Samakhiali, Ahmedabad Jn, Ratlam Jn, Kota Jn, Sawai Madhopur Jn, Mathura Jn, Gorakhpur Jn, Muzaffarpur Jn and Barauni Jn.
What kind of train this is
Amrit Bharat Express trains introduced so far are non-AC long-distance services with Sleeper and General coaches. The release does not give the coach mix for this train, so wait for the official composition before you assume the classes. Our explainers cover Amrit Bharat features and coaches, the other 2026 routes and how it compares with Vande Bharat.
How it changes options on the route
Bhuj already has direct trains to Delhi and Mumbai, but our current timetable data shows no direct train from Bhuj to Gorakhpur, Chhapra, Muzaffarpur or Barauni. Today that trip needs a change, for example at Ahmedabad or Delhi. This train would put Kutch, Ahmedabad, Kota, Mathura and north Bihar on one through service. It runs only three days a week each way, so pick your dates around those days. If you are new to how weekly services work, read weekly vs daily trains.
What travellers should do
- Wait for the first-run date, then check that 19427 or 19428 is open for booking on IRCTC. Reservation opens 60 days before the journey date, excluding the journey day.
- Plan around the running days: Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from Bhuj; Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from Barauni.
- Look at your nearest listed stop. If you live near one of them, see our note on alternate boarding stations.
- Bookmark the live status pages after launch so you can follow the running of this long trip.
