Cyclone Arnab: at least 22 trains cancelled, 28 Oct to 4 Nov

At least 22 passenger trains cancelled, some rescheduled or rerouted by Cyclone Arnab from 28 October to 4 November 2026. Dates, routes and what to check.

Indian Railways train and platform

According to Livemint, citing news agency ANI, the Railways have cancelled at least 22 passenger train services between 28 October and 4 November 2026 because of Cyclone Arnab. Some services were also partially cancelled, rescheduled or rerouted. The report was published on 28 October 2026.

The Livemint article points to a list of affected trains, but the text we have does not include it. This post therefore names only the trains that the source or our own timetable mentions. Check the railway's train-wise notice before you plan around any number.

What changed

Cyclone Arnab made landfall early on Wednesday, and disrupted normal life in Odisha and other southern districts. The Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar said the storm weakened after landfall on the Andhra Pradesh coast, but it still brought heavy to extremely heavy rain to southern Odisha.

The same report notes that flights were also cancelled or rerouted, including a Bhubaneswar to Jeypore to Visakhapatnam flight. Flights do not change your train booking, so this post covers only the rail side.

Who is affected

The source mentions coastal areas, southern Odisha and the Andhra Pradesh coast. If your journey starts from or ends at Bhubaneswar (BBS) or Visakhapatnam (VSKP), or passes through these stations, check your train before you leave home.

Other reports give different dates and totals. Our earlier post, Cyclone Arnab: 22+ trains cancelled or suspended till 5 Nov, uses a window of 27 October to 5 November from Hindustan Times. Where the two windows differ, treat the railway's own notice as the final word.

What to do before you travel

  1. Check your train on the day. Open its live status page for the running status, or use the National Train Inquiry System (NTES), which the source names.
  2. Confirm the date. The window runs to 4 November, so a journey on any day in that window can be affected, even if the storm itself has weakened.
  3. Plan a backup. Use the trip planner to find other trains between your stations, including alternative boarding stations and connections.
  4. Keep the rail helpline handy. Dial 139 for railway help. Our guide to railway helplines during floods and disasters explains which number to use in which case.

If your train is cancelled, you do not need to wait at the station for information. Check the status online first, then follow the refund steps in our refund helpline guide.

Where to keep checking

Livemint's report points readers to the National Train Inquiry System (NTES) and the Indian Railways website for updates. Those are the sources that matter when a train changes. News reports are useful for the big picture, but they can lag behind the railway's own notices, and they often disagree on totals and dates.

For earlier cancellations, see our post on trains cancelled from 20 to 26 October 2026. Whatever you read, confirm your own train before you travel.
