Jodhpur Junction (JU) is the main railway station for the Blue City and one of the busiest stations in western Rajasthan. Our timetable lists 146 trains that stop here, and a large share of them start or end at the station, which makes it a good base for trips to the Thar Desert, the Mehrangarh Fort, and the lines that fan out towards Barmer and the wider Marwar region.

Platforms and how to read the board
Jodhpur has several platforms, and trains from different directions use different ones. Platform numbers are not shown on our site, so check the departure board in the station's concourse or the platform screens about half an hour before your train. The announcement is usually made when the train is close to the platform. If you are travelling with heavy bags, ask the station staff which end of the platform the coach you booked will stop at, since on a long platform that can save a lot of walking.
When your train is listed as a special or a mela (fair) train, the platform can change at short notice. Keep your ticket and the train number handy when you ask staff, and confirm the departure details on the Indian Railways enquiry site on the day.

Before you arrive: a short checklist
- Confirm the train's running day on the day of travel, since several trains in the table run only on certain weekdays.
- Note the train number and the coach letter from your ticket, and check the coach position on the platform when you get there.
- Reach the station at least 45 minutes before departure for long-distance trains, more if you have heavy luggage or are travelling with elderly passengers.
- Save the rail helpline number 139 and the train's status page, so you can check for changes while you wait.
- Carry a copy of your ID and the booking details on your phone and on paper.
Exits and getting out of the station
Most visitors leave through the main entrance and look for autos, cabs and app-based rides at the forecourt. Ask the station staff which side the exit for the city centre is on, since the approach roads around a large junction can be one-way. If you are arriving for the old city, the Mehrangarh Fort and the bazaars are a short ride away, and an auto or app ride is the usual way to reach the fort. Check the current exit layout on arrival, since the forecourt is busy at peak hours and during festival weeks.
Facilities at the station
A junction of this size usually has waiting halls, drinking water, food stalls and an auto or taxi stand, and some stations also have retiring rooms for travellers with a long gap between trains. Availability can change, so confirm the current facilities when you arrive or call the rail helpline on 139. Carry a power bank, since charging points on the platforms are not always working at busy times.
