Shatabdi punctuality, 19 to 25 October 2026: our delay data

How the Shatabdi and Jan Shatabdi trains in our tracking ran from 19 to 25 October 2026, with method, days observed and live status links for each train.

Indian Railways train and platform

What we measured and how

This report uses only TrainLiveStatus's own delay tracking for the seven days from 19 to 25 October 2026. For each train we record the largest delay reported during that day's run. A train counts as on time on a day when that largest delay is within 15 minutes.

This is our own tracking, not an official Indian Railways statistic. Of 78 trains in scope, 63 were ranked. Across those 63 trains the average largest daily delay was 28 minutes, and 50% were on time as we count it. The window ends on the publishing day, so 25 October may be only partly recorded.

The 15 most delayed trains

Trains are ranked by their average largest daily delay. Eight of the 15 were on time on none of the days we observed them. The highest average, HWH Janshatabdi (12022), was 4 h 04 min over seven days, with no on-time day.

What stands out

Six of the 15 start or end at Howrah Junction. HWH Janshatabdi (12022) runs from Barbil to Howrah, and BBN Janshatabdi (12021) runs back. The other Howrah trains in the table are Janshatabdi Express (12023), Satabdi Express (12277), BBS Janshatabdi (12073) and Janshatabdi Express (12024), which runs from Patna Junction to Howrah.

The median and the average can tell different stories. BBN Janshatabdi (12021) had a median of 19 minutes but an average of 72 minutes, because its worst day reached 3 h 49 min. In contrast, NDLS Shatabdi (12001) was late most of the time: its median is 1 h 24 min and it had no on-time day across seven days.

CBE MAS Shatabdi (12244) had the best on-time record in the table, 75% over four days, but its worst day still reached 1 h 57 min.

What the numbers do not show

A ranking of one week says nothing about why a train was late, and it is not a forecast for the coming week. It does not show whether a train made up time later in its run.

Note: the figures come from running status reports that we collect. They can differ from NTES or a railway zone's figures for the same train on the same day.

How to use this before you travel

  • Check the running days first. Some trains here run on only some days of the week. Janshatabdi Express (12023), for example, is listed to run Monday to Saturday.
  • Look at the live status on the day. Each train page shows the current running status and its recent delay history.
  • Allow for a late arrival. If you have a meeting or a connection at the destination, allow more than the median delay, because the worst days in this table run to several hours.
  • Compare alternatives. The trip planner shows other trains between the same stations.

For the same week in other groups, see Rajdhani punctuality, 12 to 18 October 2026 and Vande Bharat punctuality for the same week. For an earlier Shatabdi report, see the Shatabdi report for the week ending 4 October. To learn how the classes differ, read Rajdhani vs Shatabdi vs Vande Bharat.

Frequently asked questions

How is the ranking worked out?

We record the largest delay reported for each train during each day's run, then rank trains by the average of those daily figures. A train counts as on time on a day when its largest delay is within 15 minutes.

Is this an official figure?

No. It comes from TrainLiveStatus's own delay tracking, built from running status reports. Railway zones publish their own figures, which can differ from ours.

Why is the average so much higher than the median for some trains?

One very late day raises the average. For BBN Janshatabdi (12021) the median was 19 minutes and the average 72 minutes, because one day reached 3 hours 49 minutes. The median shows a typical day, and the average also reflects the bad days.

Does a high rank mean the train is always late?

No. A ranking covers one week of reports. Check the running days and the train's delay history on its page before you travel.
