What we measured and how

This report uses only TrainLiveStatus's own delay tracking for the seven days from 29 October to 4 November 2026. For each train we record the largest delay reported during that day's run. A train counts as on time on a day when that largest delay is within 15 minutes.

This is our own tracking, not an official Indian Railways statistic. Of 6,471 trains in scope, 3,990 had enough reports to be ranked. Across those trains the average largest daily delay was 56 minutes, and 37% were on time as we count it. Railway zones publish their own figures, which can differ from ours.

The 15 most delayed trains

Trains are ranked by their average largest daily delay. Every train in the table averaged more than eight hours of largest delay on the days we observed it. None was on time on any observed day, and none recorded a cancelled day in this window.

The "Runs on" column comes from the timetable in our database. "Days observed" counts how many of the seven days in the window we hold a delay report for that train, so a train with a low count was seen on fewer days and its average rests on fewer runs.

Live running status

Where is your train right now?

Live position, expected arrival at every stop and the delay history of the last few weeks.

What the list shows

Nine of the 15 are special trains, and most of them run only one to three days a week. Several of the list have only three observed days. With so few reports, one very late journey can move the average a lot, so read the days observed and the worst day as well as the average.

The rest of the list is mixed: two Duronto services, two Mail or Express trains, one Superfast and one Amrit Bharat Express. The routes run from Howrah, Purulia, Raxaul and New Jalpaiguri to Pune, Tirunelveli, Tirupati and Amritsar. This report shows how long the delays were, not why they happened, so we do not give causes here.

How to use this list

  • Check the live status on the day of travel. A week of data does not tell you how a train will run on your date. Open the train page for the day's position.
  • Look at the days observed and the worst day. A train seen on only three days should be read with more caution than one seen on all seven.
  • Compare alternatives on the same route. The trip planner shows other trains and connections between the same stations.

For the previous weeks, see our earlier reports on the most delayed trains from 19 to 25 October and 11 to 17 October. The most punctual trains of the week before are in our 27 October to 2 November report.

Frequently asked questions

How is the most delayed train ranked?

We record the largest delay reported for each train during each day's run, then rank trains by the average of those daily figures. A train counts as on time on a day when its largest delay is within 15 minutes.

Is this an official Indian Railways figure?

No. It comes from TrainLiveStatus's own delay tracking, built from running status reports. It is not an official statistic, and railway zones publish their own figures.

Why do several trains have only three observed days?

Several trains in the list have only three observed days. With so few reports, one very late run can move the average a lot, so check the days observed and the worst day before you draw a conclusion about a train.

Should I avoid these trains?

Not necessarily. The list shows how these trains ran in one week, not how they will run on your date. Check the live status on the day, and compare other trains on the same route in the trip planner.
