What we measured and how
This report uses only TrainLiveStatus's own delay tracking for the seven days from 11 to 17 October 2026. For each train we record the largest delay reported during that day's run. A train counts as on time when it is within 15 minutes of its schedule. The window includes the day of writing, so today's figures may be only partly recorded.
This is our own tracking, not an official Indian Railways statistic. Of 6,544 trains in scope, 4,035 were ranked. Across the week the average largest daily delay was 53 minutes, and 37% of train-days were on time.
The 15 most delayed trains
Trains are ranked by their average largest daily delay. None of these 15 was on time on any observed day. Running days for each train are on its live status page, and the table below uses our delay records only.

Two patterns stand out. Azad HIND Express appears twice, once from Howrah Junction (HWH) to Pune Junction (PUNE) and once back, and both directions show average delays of more than nine hours. Six of the seven specials on the list were seen on only three days in the window. Anand Vihar Terminal (ANVT) is the start or end point of three listed trains: the two Jansadharan Express services and the ANVT SRC Weekly SF Express (22858).
Our records also show three cancelled days each for the two Jansadharan Express trains, Anvt-dnr Jansadharan Express (13258) and Dnr-anvt Jansadharan Express (13257), so their figures should be read with that in mind.
Where is your train right now?
Live position, expected arrival at every stop and the delay history of the last few weeks.
What the numbers do and do not show
Many trains on the list have only three or four observed days in the window, so one bad run can move the average a lot. Days observed come from our records and may not match a train's timetable running days. The ranking is a snapshot of this week's reports, not a forecast for next week.
The median helps check the average. For Hwh-ndls Special (04051), which has seven observed days in our records, the median was 8 h 00 min against an average of 8 h 37 min. For Azad HIND Express (12130) the median was 11 h 29 min, so its long delays were not caused by one outlier day alone.
How to use this before you travel
- Check the running days first. Check the timetable running days on the train page, and remember that a delay on one day says little about the others.
- Look at the live status on the day. Each train page shows the current running status and the recent delay history for that train.
- Plan a buffer for connections. If you need to change trains, allow extra time or pick a different train on the same route.
- Compare alternatives. The trip planner shows other trains between the same stations, so you can choose a faster or more punctual option.
For earlier weeks, see the most delayed trains from 4 to 10 October 2026, the most delayed trains from 27 September to 3 October and the most punctual long-distance trains from 3 to 9 October. For a city-pair view, read the Mumbai to Howrah delays from 7 to 13 October.

Frequently asked questions
How is the most delayed train ranked?
We record the largest delay reported for each train during each day's run, then rank trains by the average of those daily figures. A train counts as on time on a day when its largest delay is within 15 minutes.
Is this an official Indian Railways figure?
No. It comes from TrainLiveStatus's own delay tracking, built from running status reports. Railway zones publish their own figures, which can differ.
Why do some trains have few days in the sample?
Many trains run only on certain days of the week, so a seven-day window holds only one or two of their runs. A small sample can move the average a lot, so read the ranking as a snapshot.
How can I check a delayed train before I travel?
Open the train's page on TrainLiveStatus for its running status and recent delay history, and use the trip planner to find other trains on the same route.
