Telangana Express 12723 and 12724: Route, Stops and Timings
The daily Hyderabad to Delhi Telangana Express pair: 12723 and 12724 timings, the stops and states on the route, and berth tips for a 25-hour run.

The Telangana Express pair is the daily link between Hyderabad and New Delhi. In our timetable, the Hyderabad to Delhi train is listed as the Telangana SF Express, number 12723, and the Delhi to Hyderabad train as the Telangana Express, number 12724. Both run every day and take a little over a day, so plan it as a journey that includes a full night, not a quick hop.

The two trains at a glance
| Train | Direction | Runs | Leaves | Reaches | Scheduled journey |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 12723 Telangana SF Express | Hyderabad to New Delhi | Daily | 06:00 from Hyderabad | 08:00 next day, New Delhi | 26 h |
| 12724 Telangana Express | New Delhi to Hyderabad | Daily | 16:00 from New Delhi | 17:10 next day, Hyderabad | 25 h 10 min |
Both are superfast trains. Our data lists 1A, 2A, 3A, sleeper and general (unreserved) classes, so you can choose a berth that suits your budget and how you want to sleep. For a quick explainer on what the superfast label means, see our guide on superfast, mail express and passenger trains.
The route and its key stops
The 12723 leaves Hyderabad early in the morning and runs north through Telangana into Maharashtra, then across Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, before reaching the capital. The timetable shows no stops between Nagpur and Bhopal, or between Bhopal and Jhansi, so the evening and the middle of the night are spent between those stations.
| Station | Arrives | Departs | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hyderabad (HYB) | Start | 06:00 | Starting station |
| Secunderabad Jn (SC) | 06:20 | 06:25 | The twin city's main junction |
| Kazipet Jn (KZJ) | 07:53 | 07:55 | A junction near Warangal |
| Sirpur Kaghaznagar (SKZR) | 10:39 | 10:40 | Last Telangana stop before Balharshah in Maharashtra |
| Chandrapur (CD) | 12:15 | 12:17 | Chandrapur district, Maharashtra |
| Nagpur Jn (NGP) | 15:20 | 15:25 | The big junction for the central rail network |
| Bhopal Jn (BPL) | 21:45 | 21:55 | Major junction on the way north |
| Jhansi Jn (VGLJ) | 01:16 (day 2) | 01:24 | Overnight in Uttar Pradesh |
| Gwalior Jn (GWL) | 02:45 (day 2) | 02:47 | Short halt |
| Agra Cantt Jn (AGC) | 04:25 (day 2) | 04:27 | Reaches Agra before dawn |
| Mathura Jn (MTJ) | 05:05 (day 2) | 05:10 | Gateway for Vrindavan trips |
| Hazrat Nizamuddin (NZM) | 07:33 (day 2) | 07:35 | Delhi's southern station, before New Delhi |
| New Delhi (NDLS) | 08:00 (day 2) | End | Final stop |
The 12724 covers the same stops in reverse, but its timings differ, so do not reuse the 12723 times for your return. It leaves New Delhi at 16:00 and passes Mathura and Agra in the early evening, then Jhansi and Bhopal overnight. It reaches Secunderabad at 15:55 on the second day and Hyderabad at 17:10.
Which states you will cross
On the way from Hyderabad to Delhi, the train passes through Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, then runs through Haryana (it stops at Ballabgarh) before entering Delhi. Keep a valid ID proof with you for the whole journey, as ticket checking staff can ask for it.
How the day and night unfold
The 12723 is easier to plan if you think of it in four parts. From Hyderabad you have a full daytime run to Nagpur, with the train reaching Nagpur at 15:20. From Nagpur the train reaches Bhopal at 21:45, so the evening is spent between central Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. The overnight part runs from Bhopal to Jhansi, which the train reaches at 01:16 on the second day. The last morning stretch covers Agra Cantt at 04:25, Mathura at 05:05 and reaches New Delhi at 08:00.
This split means that the day section is the one to plan meals and charging around, and the night section is the one where a berth and some sleep matter most. Keep phone chargers, water and any medicines in your bag, not in the luggage van or under the berth.
The train suits travellers who want one long, uninterrupted run without a change, and who are happy to spend a night on board. If you need to reach Delhi by a fixed morning time, the 08:00 arrival in the timetable gives you a clear target, but still allow for delay on a journey this long.
Booking and berth choice for a long run
A journey of 25 to 26 hours means a berth matters more than on a short trip. A lower berth is easier for older travellers and families, and our berth guide explains how to choose one. Check seat availability and confirmation chances on the trip planner before you pick.
The advance reservation period is 60 days, excluding the journey day. On the day bookings open, only Aadhaar-authenticated IRCTC users can book general reserved tickets online, from 08:00 to midnight. Plan the login in advance so you are not searching for your password at the moment the window opens.
- Pick the direction first. The timings and stops differ between 12723 and 12724.
- Check the live status of your train on the day, because a long run can pick up delay on the way.
- Carry food and water for the long evening and night stretch from Nagpur to Bhopal and on to Jhansi, where the timetable shows no stops until Bhopal and then Jhansi.
Checking how this train runs on a given day
Each train page shows the live running status and the delay history for the train, which is the most useful way to judge how the journey runs. A train that is usually on time in the morning may still lose time over a long run, so check the pattern for the days you travel.
If the Telangana Express does not fit your plans, compare alternatives in the trip planner between your stations. For a broader sense of how trains are grouped, our Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Vande Bharat comparison shows where each type fits.
